An individual returning from outside the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, specifically Riyadh, has been diagnosed with monkeypox. Reports from Saudi Press Agency (SPA) state that the Ministry of Health KSA has assured everyone that the patient is being treated thoroughly according to approved health procedures, as well as identifying those who have been in contact with the infected person, yet none of them have shown symptoms. Monkeypox is being monitored and followed up in full transparency. Russia has registered 3,398 new COVID-19 cases and 39 deaths in the past 24 hours, marking a drop in infections, the COVID-19 response headquarters said recently. World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the preliminary discovery of two cases of highly contagious Marburg virus disease in Ghana, the first such case in the country if confirmed. In the same family as the more well-known Ebola virus disease, Marburg is a highly infectious viral hemorrhagic fever. Two patients were confirmed to have Marburg virus by Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, based on preliminary analysis of samples taken from the patients. The United Arab Emirates recently sent a plane full of medical supplies to Senegal in an attempt to deal with the effects of the fire that broke out in the neonatal department at the Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh hospital in the city of Tifwani, north of Dakar, resulting in the death of 11 newborns.
